You guys, I am so excited to have been asked to partner with Sulky and present a fabulous webinar on how to make these “blooming espadrilles”. It’s all going down next Tuesday, March 12 at 2pm EST. These espadrilles are such a perfect activity while sitting at home; it could not come at a better time. Take your mind off the virus madness with a little embroidery/shoe-making time.
I am working with Ellen March, who is content creator over at Sulky and an amazing embroiderer. She has created the floral design and will talk through how to do it either as cross-stitch, embroidery OR on a machine. My job is to discuss EVERY STEP of turning that beautiful embroidery into espadrilles. Pro tip: this will be a great webinar to register for even if you don’t want to embroider shoes. You can use it for the step by step walk-through on how to stitch up your shoes with whatever fabric you have!
You can register for the webinar for free! There are door prizes and freebies (I made two different PDFs for everyone who registers) plus two question and answer periods. If you register and can’t make it, you can listen to it later. No problem.
These are the hand-embroidered shoes, pictured above.
If that isn’t enough to convince you then you should know Sulky is selling kits to accompany the video and the prices are really good! So, if right now is actually pretty crazy (I’m raising my hand here!) then save the webinar and the kit for another more sane time.
This is how the machine embroidery looks, picture above.
You all know how much I love bringing new mediums to the espadrilles canvas like weaving, leather, indigo, etc. For a long time, I have wanted to create embroidered espadrilles. It’s such a classic look! I’m thrilled to have this opportunity and share it with you.
The webinar platform is also really neat and interactive. I’m excited to CONNECT and TEACH! I miss it! It was so disappointing when opportunity after opportunity to connect and make espadrilles together got cancelled. I’m very happy this one is happening. See you next Tuesday!

I purchased the Blooming Espadrilles from Sulky but they came without any construction directions. Can you please help? Thank you, Debbie Schmidt

Hi Debbie! All of the construction instructions are in the webinar! You can even print out a PDF of the webinar slides (they have tons of step by step photos and text!). The audio for the webinar, however, is not to be missed..it’s got lots of tips and tricks and questions answered!
