Did your heart just skip a beat seeing these sandals? I know it did because mine did the same when I saw them for the first time. I am so excited to showcase these amazing hair-on leather espadrilles designed by Treasure from Nikki and Mallory!
If you are familiar with Nikki and Mallory then you already know Treasure is famous for her detailed and gorgeous leather work and her Uber-cool style. I am so happy she took her talents to the humble espadrille shoe sole and created this magic for us. Grab the PDF with a step by step video link and exclusive pattern here! It’s all available for immediate download.
As you can tell, we are doing things a little differently for this May-long limited edition Artist Series. Since I can’t source leather (and because I’m always trying to make my customers happy), I’ve turned the pattern and PDF that Treasure created into it’s own digital download listing on Etsy. I know that lots of folks have espadrille kits at home that they are going to feel inspired to turn into these hair-on sandals. Plus, Treasure made a full-on step by step video walking through the creation of these sandals, which comes linked in the digital PDF and she has great tips on where to get hair-on leather. This is really a special creation! If you don’t have shoe soles, grab the Renewal or I Got It kit to accompany her PDF. The Renewal doesn’t normally come with needles but if I know you got Treasure’s PDF I will toss some in for free. 🙂
Then you must wander over to Treasure’s website because she is making magic all over the place. I’m dying for one of her totes!
Do not miss these! It’s the perfect project to work on now, when you are stuck at home, and then step up into the world like a DIY star when the quarantine ends. This PDF, video and pattern will only be on sale until June 3rd so I’d grab it now just in case you forget later!
Note: The PDF includes where to source leather and definitely pay good attention to that. I have, however, had good luck finding sizable leather scraps in second-hand sources including at Micheals (!), which sometimes sells a leather scrap bag but also Fab Scrap sometimes ends up with leather. Just pay attention to the weight and stiffness that Treasure recommends to be sure you purchase the right kind if you go this route!
About Treasure:
Handbag Designer/Leather Craft Instructor based out of Los Angeles, CA. Cali girl at heart with a bohemian spirit. Lover of art, style, aesthetic + design.
“After years of working in TV/Film, I knew there had to be more to life then cubicles & bosses. Life’s challenges pushed me to create and become innovative so, I taught myself the very thing I loved, handbags! When one bag turned into multiple – with no money or experience, I took a leap of faith and started my own leather goods business, Nikki&Mallory. The rest is history!”
