I didn’t exactly intend for these Prefontaine shorts to become pajamas (pattern is included in the Perfect Pattern Parcel #3, on sale until June 13). At first, I thought it would be funny to have running shorts with a cute pink trim. I’m not an exceptionally cute-sy kind of person but a flash of pink worked so well on my pillow that I was inspired to try it on shorts. As soon I tried the shorts on, however, I realized they had to be pajamas. They are just far too comfortable and lounge-y to spend their life in a workout capacity. They were begging to be pi’s.
So, I obliged.
I, of course, had to make an equally lounge-y top to match. For whatever reason, I have a whole bunch of this pink Liberty Lifestyle fabric, which meant I was able to make the top to match. It makes pretty cute trim, doesn’t it? The top is a self-drafted pattern that I made with the assistance of the lovely book Made by Hand by Lena Corwin (affiliate link). In the book Jenny Gordy of Wiksten fame lays out how to make this easy top (and dress). It was a cinch.
Also, ugh…can you see that welt on my leg? Once every summer I get a crazy poison ivy reaction. I don’t even have to be exposed, all it takes is the wind carrying the poison ivy oil and it gets into my blood stream. My whole body freaks out. Right now I have poison ivy welts on my forehead, stomach, knees, thighs, chest, arms, cheek. Everywhere. It’s torture.
On a cheerier note! The whole Perfect Patten Parcel #3 is only on sale until June 13th! There are five official patterns (one bonus pattern if you pay over $28), you get to set your OWN PRICE and allocate some of what you pay to the charity Donorschoose.org. What is not to love?

OH, I know the poison ivy is pure evil. Thanks for the sympathy, I’m in need of it! And, yay for pj;s!
Jill @ Made with Moxie says
Oh crap. My mom was super allergic to poison ivy when we were kids. I hope it clears up quickly for you. 🙁
Melissa Q. says
Thanks. I’m getting pretty good at not-itching, which is essentially the best way to deal with it. But, I love my prefontaine’s! Great Pattern!
Sara says
Ha! We are all commenting on the poison ivy…some one told me recently that mango skins can cause the same reaction in people that are highly allergic to poison ivy. I have no idea if it’s true though. Your PJ’s are fabulous, regardless of the poison ivy:)
Melissa Q. says
Wow! Manjo skins? That’s crazy. Thanks for the compliments, the pi’s are making me really happy!
Kelsey Boes says
That poison ivy situation is a huge bummer! I am so sorry 🙁 But at least you have cute comfy clothes to wear while it runs its course 🙂
Melissa Q. says
Totally, I’m loving these pj’s right now…they don’t irritate the poison ivy because they fit so loose. Bonus for that!

These are super cute shorts! And I’m so sorry about the poison ivy– I was scrolling down and thought, oh no, what happened!
