I am starting 2024 with some really wonderful news and a new life for The Espadrilles Kit! Can you guess by looking at this pile of boxes?
A Happy Stitch and The Espadrilles Kit, which I’ve had the great joy to build and grow for the past five years, will live on! Kelly from Superbuzzy of Ventura, CA is the new owner!
If you haven’t had the pleasure of visiting Superbuzzy, trust me when I say that it is an absolutely magical shop. It’s packed with a stunningly curated collection of gorgeous fabric and notions, fabulous workshops, events and warm community. It’s spacious and beautiful with the most fabulous plank wood floors and the chillest vibe!
It means so much to me that Kelly istaking over not only because she’s so wonderful but also because I have fond memories of sneaking away from the Craftcation conference to browse her shop. It’s the kind of place so well designed that you immediately relax, touch all the fabric and soak up the joy of textiles. It’s a joy to work with Kelly on a transition that feels, honestly, meant to be. It’s a dream come true to see The Espadrilles Kit grow in this way and live on in this beautiful, super special space!
Lots of exciting things are sure to come including the ability to shop for kits IN PERSON surrounded by her spectacular staff. As always, I’m eternally grateful for each and every one of you. It meant the world to me to connect and create espadrille shoes as well as share in the joy of making. I am so proud of The Espadrilles Kits and so happy for the experience that brought so many fabulous people into my orbit.
Join me in cheering Kelly on by following Superbuzzy on Instagram at @superbuzzy23. Kelly will also be taking over the @ahappystitch Instagram and this very website as of TODAY.
xoxo, Melissa Q
P.S. You can now find me (just as me) on Instagram at @melissaquaal. I’ve been doing lots of drawing and some designing but no posting just yet! There is a great 1970s shot of me as a hippy child in the profile, though. What’s not to love about that! 🙂
P.P.S. Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns! I will be monitoring the email, ahappystitch (at)gmail dot com for a good while. For anyone who signed up for the newsletter and didn’t receive your free strappy pattern, I’m SO SORRY! That has now been fixed and emails should have gone out this morning. Thanks for your patience.

Hello again, I’m wondering if your espadrille sew-a-longs will remain on this site?
