The air smells like dirt. There are crocuses, snow drops and hellebores blooming! It’s officially spring over here (and, I’ve got the occasionally rainy day to prove it). It’s clearly the perfect time for a shop update! I’m beyond excited to share the latest spring espadrille kits. I know everyone gets excited to make espadrilles in spring. Who wouldn’t? They are, after all, the perfect spring and summer shoe.
Meet the latest!
The newest floral is a Rifle Paper Co. print called Strawberry Fields and it makes a perfectly happy pair of espadrilles. As always, Rifle Paper Co. creates a whimsical scene of flowers, strawberries and butterflies. The natural canvas background is perfect for matching natural surroundings.
Also new to the shop are four organic cotton and hemp fabric blends! Since the beginning of A HAPPY STITCH I’ve been hunting for more eco-friendly textiles and was happy, a while back, to offer pre-consumer waste fabric from FabScrap.
So, it is with pure delight that I introduce a classic black (seen below), an olive canteen, caramel stripe and charcoal stripe fabric. All of these fabrics are a blend of the very durable and ecological hemp as well as an organic cotton. Additionally, they have a fabulous texture and are stunning but subtle colors.
All of the Starter Kits come with the following items:
+ gorgeous, high quality fabric
+ organic cotton lining fabric
+ shoe soles (check the size chart in each listing compared to your foot measurements to get a good fit)
+ medium-weight interfacing
+ specific espadrille needles
+ espadrille thread
+ espadrille wax
+ needle pullers
+ an instruction booklet
+ an exclusive A HAPPY STITCH shoe pattern
I hand-craft many of the kit accessories myself and pack each kit with so much love. You won’t find my pattern anywhere else. It was developed and tested by me. The instruction booklet with step-by-step illustrated instructions and fitting tips was also developed by me and is only available with my kits. Keep an eye out, I’m working on developed a video to accompany the kits and will be sending it out to everyone who has ever purchased a kit.
I hope you enjoy the spring espadrille kits as much as I do. It’s time to bring an easy handmade project to our feet and celebrate spring!
Who knows, maybe these are the kicks that will walk us into a summer without pandemic worries. Fingers crossed!
