Welcome to the New Year my lovely crafty friends! I got the much-needed rest I was looking forward to and almost completely unplugged. I feel so nourished and excited for the year 2020. (Don’t you just love the visual and auditory symmetry of 2020?! It’s like a poem every time I say it. Delicious!)
I’m very happy that my first post of this glorious year is the kick-start for The Artist Series of 2020. Joining us the month with inspiration as well as soothing, affirmative words is Leilani! Let’s let her feet lead the way, shall we? Ahhh yeah. She has designed the most fabulous watercolor and hand-stitched espadrilles!
Leilani of Studio Gypsy is one of those people whose elegant, playful style captures me immediately. She is a mom and runs a business selling chalk bags for climbers but her creative energy extends into so many wide, varied directions. Her Instagram is full of whimsical little videos that always leave me smiling. She brought her signature, artistic style to this pair of watercolor and hand-stitched espadrilles. I’m positively smitten. I know you are too!
In this limited edition kit, sold in my shop, you will receive everything you need to create these shoes except the watercolors. I’m leaving it up to you to select your own watercolor palette. I do, however, include natural canvas fabric, a selection of embroidery floss, lining fabric, the shoe soles and all the other espadrilles accoutrements as well as Leilani’s gorgeous and encouraging how-to. Seriously, you will want this just to start your year experience with the wondrous encouragement of her voice in your ear.
I am positively in love with the messiness of these stitches. It reminds me so much of visible mending and its message to embrace our individuality.
Plus, how soothing to create such handmade goodness! It’s the perfect project to let loose, experiment and create! Check it out here in the shop and then pop over and drool over everything Leilani does.
