I am not at Quilt Market but it’s roaring along right now in Salt Lake City and shots from this massive quilting fabric market are clogging my IG feed. I have such mixed feelings about Quilt Market, part of me would love to attend but the smart part of me realizes that I would hate it. Big crowds, tons of things to see. It’s the worst kind of sensory overload for an introvert of my stripe. Either way, I get really jealous of everyone attending every time it comes around. I am consoled by the fact that I usually have some of my stitches in attendance. The lovely people at Cloud 9 Fabric have their office about a half an hour from my house and I’m so honored that they frequently hire me to sew samples for them.
For this weekends Quilt Market I got to sew in their new line of knit fabrics, designed by the crazy-talented Made by Rae. I mean who couldn’t fall in love with these flamingos!
This dress is a Marrianne from Christine Haynes. Versatile and adorable, I’ve seen so many people making the Marianne. I think it’s especially fun in flamingo!
I made a second Marianne for Cloud 9 in this lovely green floral print. it’s also knit fabric, also by Rae.
The Cloud 9 knits are 100% cotton interlock so they don’t have tons of stretch to them but they have lots of structure. It works so beautifully for these Marianne dresses. You wouldn’t want them too clingy and the interlock drapes with more shape.
I also made a tank top, from MY forthcoming pattern with Cloud 9. I’m so excited for this pattern to come out into the real world. Quite a few people have asked me when exactly it will be released. Truth is, I don’t yet know but rest assured I will be shouting from the rooftops when it does. In the meantime, they have lots of lovely free patterns on their blog. Be sure to peruse.
If you are at Quilt Market, stop by the Cloud 9 booth and say hi to my knits! I’m hounding Instagram for pictures of them.
