When Stacey from Boy, Oh Boy, Oh Boy asked me to participate in the pattern tour for her lovely Bond Top I was positively thrilled. I’m always on the lookout for patterns geared toward boys clothing in the wearable and cute category. Stacy developed the Bond Top for her son who never wanted to get out of his pajamas. The top is designed to feel like pj’s on the bottom half but look dressy on the top. That Stacy is clever, isn’t she?
I decided to use all knit fabrics to make it super duper comfy. Comfy is what matters to my guy and a collar always looks dressy even in knit. I also lengthened the sleeves (the pattern is for 3/4 length sleeves) and added a cute cuff. I’m totally a sucker for a cuffed arm, it just balances out any print up top. I did struggle a little to get the collar to fit properly, don’t know if that’s because I used knit fabric instead of woven or if it’s because I was winging it a little while making the placket. (Bad habit, that one!). It turned out great, though. It’s a bit of Kid’s Clothes Week cheat since I made it last week. I’m really behind on KCW making, though, so forgive me?
Look at that cute guy in his dressy/comfy top! So stinkin’ adorable! In the picture below he is pretending to hold two flowers. Up above he’s pretending to be sad. He kind of gets into our little photo shoots. He really works on hard on his ‘smile’. Oh yeah, that cheesy, straight mouth is a well thought-out “look”. He’s too much.
Anytime the camera turns on him he pulls out his signature look…even when he is just about the fly down the stairs on his stomach. It kills me. Instinctively, I kiss his smooth, little cheeks and laugh. He’s out little gummy bear/future actor.
Yes, he really did fly down the stairs 10 seconds after this shot. Don’t be fooled by the “look”.
Do you like the looks of my Bond Top? Be sure to stop over and visit the wonderfully-named If Only They Would Nap to see what the uber-talented Jess made with her Bond Top pattern. She is always cranking out such amazing things!
In honor of the pattern tour and Kids Clothes Week, Beatnik Kids will be having a sale. Use the code BONDTOP at Stacy’s shop to receive 2 dollars off the original $8 price!
Also, this might be obvious but I was given the Bond Top Pattern from Stacy and asked to blog about what I made. My opinion about the pattern is just that, mine.

Ugh, the cuteness. And the shirt is great. I like it more (and it’s so much warmer) with long sleeves.
