What a weekend and now this! Notice anything different? Yes, the new website look has arrived. What do you think? I moved things around and tried to clean it up, make it a little cheerier. I had amazing help with all things techy from Mediacurve.
I can’t wait to share the ins and outs of how I made images and icons. Let’s just say I’m amazed at what can be done in PicMonkey. But before I get to that there are other things to explore. Such as…the brand, spanking new A Happy Stitch video! It’s right there in the sidebar, too. I really wanted a way to communicate my passion for sewing and my philosophy about teaching. My incredibly talented friend Courtney, offered to help make it happen. Boy, did she ever. Courtney has a deep love of storytelling and uses her video camera to tell stories with warmth, optimism, and heart. I get a little weepy and swept away watching this. I hope you love it, too.

Besides the video and the clean, clear look. You might notice I don’t have anything about memory quilts anymore. I started out this sewing endeavor thinking I could do it all…make memory quilts; teach; make patterns; and sell hand sewn items. I love doing all those things but I’ve sadly realized that I need to narrow my focus to stay sane and happy. So, I’m hoping to share all about how I make memory quilts with classes and blog posts but I’m not taking any more commissions to make them. Feels sad and also good, like an exhale after a cry.
I have added a few new things to the site, too. I took all the beautiful things I love and all the talented friends I have and gave them their own page. It was getting too much to have it all hanging out in the sidebar. And, I tried to collect my tutorials and popular posts in one page, as well. Making it easier for new visitors to get a feel for what I do.
The new design reflects some of the changes I’ve been through in the 3 YEARS I’ve been stitching and teaching. It’s quieter and, at the same time, more fun. I’m hoping to add some features over time including a complete document about how to sew but for now, I’m just happy to settle into this new home. There might be some kinks and craziness (it’s a newborn site after all) so if you are poking around and find anything please let me know!
