I have been wanting to try a raglan sleeve tee for a while now and a recent trip to goodwill brought with it the perfect opportunity. I loved the way these two cast-aside t-shirts looked together. and the little guy likes it, too. the pattern is from the lovely book sewing for boys.
arr! he’s so tough, don’t you think? the buttons at the top of the shirt were a part of the stripy purple shirt already and I was excited to be able to work with them as a pre-made detail for his shirt. I added a folded strip of the heathered knit as the top hem band and stitched it closed with a twin needle stitch, my new favorite stitch of all time.
I had planned on waiting to make this shirt, I mean kids clothes week is just around the corner, but I just couldn’t. it was calling to me. plus, little guy was getting a little sad because his brother got so many new pairs of shorts! he needed this shirt. look at that face, I can’t resist it.

Adorable! I love that style of shirt on little boys (and myself, ahem).

aw, thanks! I love the old raglan, too. But, it always makes me look like a rough and tough softball player. So, I keep it for the boys. C’est la vie.
