I don’t know about you but I am feeling the stress of the holiday season this year something fierce. Perhaps it’s because I got hit with a body-aching cold or it’s the rush of sending out lots of espadrille kits after the dry spell this summer. I don’t know. But, I do know that I’m looking forward to the wind-down of Christmas week with my kids. We are staying put and I can’t wait. Bring on the puzzles and cuddle times by the fire and cheesy Christmas movies. I’m game for it all. So, despite it all, I joined in the Sew Family Jammies blog tour! I had to squeeze pajama making in the holiday madness and I’m really glad I did.
Yup. We are going to unwind in style together in lounge pants and fun prints LIKE NOBODY’S BUSINESS this holiday season. Just to make sure we are really able to soak it all up I stitched lovely, lounger pants and comfy t-shirts and everybody picked their preferred print. It’s a crazy combination of pizza planets, French fries, zebras and bright flowers.
I added matching black and white stripes down the sides just to “tie it all together” because nothing brings crazy together like more crazy, right?
Really though, does anything look more fabulous than hanging out with these people? I don’t think so! I splurged and let everyone choose their own fabric from Spoonflower and I love how they all turned out. For the rest of the fabric, like trims and neckbands and things, I used all excess fabric from my stash. The pale pink fabric on my shirt is actually a scrap from other loungewear I made using Fab Scrap fabric.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, this picture taking was total torture. My people don’t like to sit still or smile at the same time or look the right direction.
We do, however, love to hang out in pajamas and play board games together. Speaking of, have you seen the new Choose-Your-Own-Adventure board games? We got House of Danger and it’s super fun (affiliate link for Amazon there but I recommend looking for it locally first!).
Here are a few details about our fabulous family get-up. As I mentioned, the fabric is all from Spoonflower, in cotton spandex jersey. Everything except for my floral print is from the designer Andrea Lauren. The kids love her playful prints and I like that they are playful but still stylish. I mean, pizza planets in smashing colors. Love it! My loungers are designed by La Petite Le Cour and I love her saturated florals so much.
I’ve partnered with Spoonflower before and so I do know they are fabulous people. What I only just learned this summer is that it’s quite eco-friendly and low waste to print digital fabric in the style they do at Spoonflower. That makes me feel even better about splurging on these fab jammies.
The pants were all made using the Made It Pattern for Slow Pants pattern. The pattern comes in both adults and also teens so it worked perfectly! I was able to adjust the hips on a larger size to create a pattern for my husband. Isn’t that fabulous? I did omit the pockets because as much as I love pockets I don’t need them in my jammies.
For the tees, I adapted the Union Street Tee from Hey June Handmade. As it’s a pajama shirt, I didn’t worry too much about precision so the necklines are a bit bigger than they ought to be. I’m not stressed about it, though.
In fact, I didn’t stress about these family pajamas much at all. No hems needed, if you ask me. It’s about making pants you can wear all morning long stretching into the afternoon and put right back on as soon as it’s time to snuggle for a good viewing of the Griswold Christmas. That’s my big grand plan!
Be sure to check out all the fun pajamas that everyone is making! There is some amazing inspiration on this list.
