it’s really not hard to discern what I’m thankful for this year, not that it ever is. but the swirl of imaginary underwater worlds, sweet shops, monster truck races, fake campfire making, drawing and wrestling and wrestling and endless wrestling (and eventual wine drinking) that marked our thanksgiving this year made it difficult to miss.
it is these people. the ones that I get to be around. these brothers that grow closer to each other every day. closer, even, than they are to us, the parents (gulp). to my love that with a glance announces it is time for a “boys trip to the park” because he can see that I really need to finish making this pie all alone…without a scramble of elbows and knees from the helpers at my side.
yet, at the end of the day, we all remain in orbit together somehow. and, this year, especially after storms and health scares, that orbit is what I’m most thankful for. complete with its routines and chaos, that orbit, where we each have enough room to both be ourselves and also change at the same time, it feels just right.
yes. no doubt about it. it’s worth a moment of thanks. wishing you and yours the same! happy thanksgiving, all.
