WE HAVE A WINNER! It’s Rebecca from Our Busy Little Bunch! I’ll send you an email soon, Rebecca.
it’s giveaway day! and I want to kit. you. out!
welcome to the happy stitch giveaway! this little kit of sewing goodies is intended to flesh out your sewing supplies with some good stuff and get you well on your way to making this beautiful ‘happy stack’ toy for a wee one!
let’s get to it. this sewing kit includes:
A Heather Bailey ‘happy stacker’ pattern (retails at $13). I love getting people sewing and this pattern makes it nearly irresistible! to help you with your project, the kit also includes:
*) a happy stitch original…a handmade linen sewing weight so you can weigh down the pattern and skip pesky pins (if you’ve taken my classes…you know how I feel about pins). it’s cute, very cute and I’m not just saying that.
*) some ribbon for the happy stacker.
*) a seam ripper with a bright light at the end (includes a new battery to help light up your seams as you rip them out…not that this is going to happen, of course…you won’t need it, I’m throwing it in just in case. wink.).
*) an assortment of quirky, vintage buttons…just for fun. you probably don’t want these on your baby toy but they are just pretty. and, pretty is good.
I’m also throwing in: a purple bobbin holder to keep those bobbins tidy (woot!) but it isn’t particularly photogenic so I don’t have a photo.
here is how to win:
*) leave a comment in this post (you have until December 16th and I’ll announce the winner by the 18th. make sure your email is current so I can contact you if you win!) telling me about the very first thing that you ever made and what you want to make next! answer long or short, tell a story or a poem or simply write up a list of two! I don’t mind. I will make my husband pick a number out of hat so the winner is random.
And, yes! I’m willing to ship internationally. Why not?
Don’t forget to check out all the other amazing giveaways this week! click below:
good luck! (and, don’t worry…because everyone is a winner in my book, I’m cooking up a little tutorial and a recipe for everyone that checks back on the 18th!)
Well, if you mean the first thing i made by sewing, it was my tote bag in your class!! i am trying to get a few more holiday gifts made: a paint brush ‘roll’, a holiday table runner, and a few fabric buckets! sweet giveaway here!!

Wow! This giveaway is full of cuteness! Thanks for the opportunity to win such wonderful gifts.
very first thing was a twin sized quilt with my mom for my bed – next thing.. a queen size quilt for her bed – how ironic haha
The first thing I ever sewed? Gosh, I was like 9 years old then. But I think it was a messenger-style bag for 4-H. The outside was a gray ticking and the inside was red. Super stylish, I thought. We used a brown paper grocery sack as a template, as I recall.
What do I want to make next? Well, besides this happy stacker for my wee one, I’d like to make a Dresden plate quilt. I’ve got everything for it. I’m just terrified to commit.
Thanks for the giveaway!
The first thing I ever made was in school a blouse.
The last thing was a oven mitt in pink for my darling daughter.
The very first thing I ever sewed was a pillowcase. I was so happy with it when I finished, I crocheted a scalloped edge on it and gave it to my 89-year-old grandfather (my hero).
Thanks so much for the great giveaway!
The very first project I ever made was a king-sized quilt/comforter for my husband. His first official job coaching football was for a team whose colors were purple and gold, and I did NOT want an all purple-and-gold quilt, so I made my own for him. Bought a sewing machine and a “Quilting for Dummies” book and started the same day.
Thanks for the fun entry! Enjoy giveaway week!

The first thing I ever made was a polka dot envelope pillow. It is kind of cute, but the fringe I added is kind of disastrous. It was too advanced for me at the time. I want to make a purse for my next project. I have always wanted to, but just never got around to it.
The first thing I made was some clothes for my Barbie. I hand sewed them and they weren’t too pretty, but it was the start of my sewing fun!

I explained to the judge what I learned from my mistake, won the blue ribbon and advanced to the state fair! Next up, the fall/winter jacket that’s been on the back burner all semester. roguekeri at live dot com
I have no clue what I 1st sewed. If anything it might have been the arm of my favorite stuffed animal after my dog shewed it half off. I remember try to gently stitch him up. Those bad stitches are still visible in poor little Oink Oink.
As a high school student, I made pillows. Lots of pillows. As an adult, the first thing I made was a queen size quilt. What was I thinking? It’s full of problems, but I still love it (and I don’t think it will fall apart).
I remember crocheting and endless rope in the car on a long trip when I was a girl. Next on my adult list is sewing curtains!
Thanks and Merry Christmas!

The first thing I sewed was a zipper bag! After hearing how so many people are afraid of zippers, I hold my head high that I did a great zipper on the first try!
The first thing I ever sewed was a pair of gaudy curtains for my bedroom (I was in 7th grade and thought they were beautiful). My next project is a shopping cart cover for my granddaughter.

I made a skirt and am planning to make a dress next
I just started sewing 2 years ago, and yes, I made a dress. Not the smartest move but it turned out okay- it was for a 2 year old!

i think i tried to make a top… it was bad
Home ec… I made boxers that didn’t fit.
The first time I ever sewed was a jumper in home ec. i think it was in 6th grade? But the first thing I remember finishing and actually wearing/using was a long denim skirt. You know the kind where you rip out the legs on a pair of jeans and sew in a triangle of fabric. I love that thing and I sewed it all by hand. Denim. By hand.
The thing I want to make next… i have 50 things on that list. i owe my sister a quilt and some pillows. I also need to make my littlest one a quilt. I really would like a new bag. Oh, the list goes on…
The first thing I ever made was an apron and I am making a skirt now for my daughter! thanks for the lovely giveaway.
A horribly fitting, ugly skirt!
The first thing I made was an apron in grade 8 sewing class and I butchered the applique – I had to sew it on crooked to hide the holes underneath it. The next thing I want to make (after finishing up some half-done Christmas presents) is a small cross-body pouch for myself.

first thing I made was a apron in my home ec sewing class…. next project is 6 quilts for my grand kids…
I’ve been crafting forever so I don’t remember my first. However, my first quilt was made in university. I had made my bed (double captains bed) so I figured that I should make what goes on it too. It is a terrible quilt, but it led me here. Thanks for the giveaway!
The first thing I made was at school. It was a cushion to sit on for story time. I remember it so well, I managed to sew it to my school dress. Needless to say it was probably about another 20 years before i attempted anything else.
My very first project was a bonnet in home ec class. I need to make a jumper for my daughter next.
1st thing: a crocheted baby blanket for my niece
Current: coin purses for my 2 nieces
They are my muses for sure!
Love the fun stuff you will be sending my way soon if I win! The very first thing I ever made was a tube dress for my barbie doll that I made with a straight stitch on my mom’s old singer! My next project will be a new year’s fiber postcard for a swap.
Thanks for the great giveaway!
